Does it affect my business?
The law applies to all businesses in Scotland and came into force on 1st January 2014.
it requires you to separate metal, plastic, glass, paper and cardboard for recycling.
If you run a food business which produces over 5kg of food waste per week then:
- You must present food waste for separate collection
- You cannot dispose of food waste in the public sewer e.g. by using a macerator
- Some rural properties may be exempt from the food requirements. Use the rural postcode checker for more information.
